The IT Specialist (InfoSec) position at Naval Base, Norfolk, VA, is responsible for assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the command's cybersecurity posture. This role involves developing and maintaining a command cybersecurity program, coordinating security issues with various commands and organizations, and evaluating the impact of new laws and guidance on existing cybersecurity programs and systems.

  • Assist the Command ISSM/ISSO in ensuring the command security posture is implemented and maintained for command information systems and programs.
  • Develop and maintain a command cybersecurity program, including architecture, requirements, objectives, and policies.
  • Coordinate security issues with other commands, higher echelons, and external organizations to address cybersecurity requirements.
  • Evaluate the impact of new laws and guidance on current programs and systems, recommending changes to existing plans and policies for compliance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience must include assisting with reviewing IT and control systems programs for compliance with cybersecurity plans and policies.
  • Experience in applying information system security measures and procedures, and complying with information security/information assurance policies.
  • Graduate level education or superior academic achievement in a relevant field.
