The IT Specialist (APPSW) position at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Administrative Resource Center - Systems and Project Support Division, involves a range of responsibilities centered around the design, development, maintenance, support, and implementation of interfaces, applications, and custom extensions that facilitate business activities. This role is part of the Recent Graduates Program, which aims to provide developmental experiences in the Federal Government, promoting potential careers in civil service for individuals who have recently graduated from accredited educational institutions or certificate programs. Successful applicants will be placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment upon completion of program requirements, which include at least one year of continuous service, 40 hours of interactive training, and demonstration of successful job performance. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and perform duties that include developing system design and formal design documentation to support the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This encompasses gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, coding, testing, implementing, and maintaining interfaces, applications, and custom extensions. You will also be responsible for reviewing and analyzing system functional requirements documentation, meeting with functional representatives and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand requirements, and conducting research and analysis on interfaces and applications based on design documents using appropriate development tools as determined by management. Additionally, you will prepare formal system technical documentation and conduct developer unit testing while providing support for other functional testing activities.
