About The Position

Trane Technologies is hiring an IT Category Manager. This is a critical role on our Indirect Procurement team, with high visibility to enterprise leadership and great potential for career growth. The roles’ primary responsibilities include category strategy development for a range of IT Categories including Software and SaaS. We are looking for a candidate with category management experience willing to learn and drive the management of the category to reduce risk, cost, and ambiguity for our internal customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in negotiation and management of Software, SaaS, and hosting agreements; or 5+ years of contract management and/or category management negotiation experience with a desire to learn and lead software/SaaS/IT category management for a global organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated success in assessing, negotiating, and managing vendors; leveraging cross-functional teams.
  • Collaboration, facilitation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to collaborate and influence within a highly matrixed environment.
  • Professional communication: both verbal and written are required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of projects, contracts, and internal business partners to deliver business value and mitigate contractual risk related to Software and SaaS purchases.
  • Negotiate and manage Software and SaaS contracts of varying complexity, including financial, contractual (Terms and Conditions), and commercial terms.
  • Lead the negotiation process for Software and SaaS contracts, including engaging with suppliers, functional leaders, legal team, subject matter experts, executive leadership, and the business sectors, as required.
  • Manage contract lifecycle and compliance, to ensure supply continuity, and deliver best total value through RFx activities and supplier selection activities.
  • Identify, engage, and align with internal stakeholders to capture category requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality.
  • Develop and execute detailed Software/SaaS short and long-term category strategy that expands on the current Preferred Supplier Program; segmenting spend and buying channels based on the business needs and effective procurement principles.
  • Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk including financial, capacity, quality, and compliance.
  • Responsible for delivering category productivity and cost avoidance through price, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement projects.
  • Oversee Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and regular supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within the category to meet program Quality/Cost/Delivery targets.
