About The Position

The IT Services Specialist II at Aiken Technical College is responsible for providing technical support for computer hardware and software, ensuring the smooth operation of multimedia equipment, and assisting faculty and staff with their IT needs. This role involves troubleshooting, system configuration, and maintaining computer systems to support the college's educational environment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 40 pounds, and work in ceilings and under desks.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma and two (2) years experience in the operation of computers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the College computer hardware and software, including system configuration, loading operating systems and software, network configuration, imaging, installation, monitoring, supporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Respond to computer software, hardware, and phone system related Help Desk requests, resolving problems either remotely or at the customers' desk, and documenting the solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide information technology related orientations for all new faculty, staff, and students.
  • Create and maintain computer disk images and software distribution packages for all faculty/staff, academic computer labs, and supporting computer systems.
  • Manage all aspects of computer operating system, security, and driver patches and version upgrades, including testing, implementation plans, and deployment in a timely manner to supported systems.
  • Set up, break down, and assist with the installation of all multimedia equipment, providing technical support for audio-visual needs for special events held on campus.
  • Develop and maintain desktop computing virus and malware configuration and settings, monitoring and responding to alerts on users' systems in a timely fashion.
  • Provide support of the College's phone system to ensure timely setup of phones and accurate directory information.
  • Follow established inventory control procedures for the College computer assets and locate assets when requested.
  • Attend campus wide meetings and activities and serve on college committees.
