About The Position

We are seeking candidates with service desk support, IT ticketing system, or data center watch experience to join our team in supporting a U.S. Navy facility located in Norfolk, VA. This is a great opportunity for cleared individuals to gain valuable IT experience working for a team that trains its members to perform system and network functions as a watch stander within a large enterprise environment. Candidates with demonstrable IT experience will be trained on the below tasks. This position includes rotational 12-hour shifts that will include weekends and holidays. What will you do: Perform systems and sustainment related tasks, review, validate, and process account forms and associated supporting documentation for account creation and access requests Assist users with login/password support, perform first level of server troubleshooting (reboot servers, validate services and server uptime/etc) Manage and support user virtual desktops using VMware Horizon Assist with server and virtual infrastructure oversight in VMware vCenter including monitoring VMs, checking host health, reviewing resource utilization, and escalating issues Create, update, escalate and triage IT tickets using IssueTrak Perform visual and physical inspections of controlled spaces and IT equipment Conduct inspections of lighting systems, fire suppression systems, HVAC units, power distribution units for any hazards such as water leaks and building damage Check and document meters and monitor devices for environmental and status readings Complete shift turnover checklists Monitor system and detection alarms Send email notifications to management and other departments for various system and network issues. Provide escort support to within controlled spaces Create and edit daily ticket reports Perform quarterly STIG reviews, including applying DISA STIG checklists, validating compliance, documenting findings, and coordinating remediation efforts with the respective AORs

Requirements

  • BS with 2 years, MS with 0 or High School level education with 6 years experience in lieu of a degree
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret
  • Certifications: Must be able to obtain a Comptia Security+ (or other approved) certification per DOD 8570 policy compliance within 120 days after employment if you do not currently hold this certification
  • Quickly adapt to shifting priorities and respond to operational issues with minimal supervision
  • Coordinate and communicate clearly during incident response, shift turnover, ticket escalations, and control space operations
  • Maintain professionalism and accuracy when processing forms, documenting work, and interacting with stakeholders
  • Respond promptly to facility and equipment issues, moving throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in situations where elevator service is temporarily unavailable, performing water mitigation tasks such as collecting and disposing of water from leaks, tasks that involve kneeling, bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces

  • Possess good analytical skills and experience creating and editing reports
  • Have hands-on experience with cable plant management and network equipment
