About The Position

The IT Security Specialist II will research, develop, implement, test and review the organization's information security to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. They will be responsible for keeping city employees informed about security measures, explain potential threats, install software, implement security measures, and proactively monitor networks. This position will be for the Security Operations Center. Plan and test responses to security breaches. Test, deploy, and maintain security hardware/software products. Serve as security expert and conduct trainings as needed. Identify risk factors and propose solutions. Manage data loss, fraud prevention, security architecture, identity and access management, investigation and forensics. Implement security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements. Perform daily routine alarm monitoring and operational activities to reduce or eliminate any operational issues. Proactively investigate suspicious activities, ensuring that potential security incidents are correctly defended, identified, analyzed, investigated, and escalated. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates Degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
