About The Position

The IT Security Specialist 3 position at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is responsible for conducting risk assessments and compliance audits, leading security risk assessment efforts, and developing security policies and procedures. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the department's information security strategy and vision, ensuring the protection of sensitive information and the continuity of business operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business, or a closely related field.
• Two years of job-related IT business experience.
• Knowledge of information security standards and the importance of information security.
• Knowledge of information risk concepts and principles.
• Experience with audit methodologies, compliance activities, or risk management is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Direct and substantial experience with information technology and/or security experience may substitute for the education requirement.
• Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and compliance audits within DPHHS.
• Lead security risk assessment efforts, including conducting information system risk assessments.
• Develop information system security plans and Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs).
• Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Develop and maintain the department's security policies and procedures.
• Provide security awareness training to staff.
