About The Position

The goal of this internship is to build and execute an outreach program for the MSUFCU Information Security team. This position has the full support of the Information Security and Information Security Management teams. The MSUFCU internship program is designed to support interns in developing career readiness competencies as defined by NACE. Throughout the internship program, interns will gain hands-on experience and enhance essential skills that prepare them for success and career growth. Interns will have the opportunity to develop competencies in career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in related field of study
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both individually and in a group setting
  • Ability to work independently, with general guidance, towards an agreed upon goal
  • Familiarity and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products

Responsibilities

  • Gain an understanding of the Information Security industry via job shadowing, work assignments, and exposure to the day-to-day activities of an Information Security team
  • Join Information Security team meetings, as a full member of the team
  • Brainstorm security-related topics to communicate to the business
  • Develop methods of communication to the business that might include one-pagers and information packets that could be consumed by the business
  • Topics for presentation, both remote and on-premises, for interested employees to attend and learn about a security-related topic

Benefits

  • Paid Hourly Internship: $20.00+/hour
  • Work Location: Hybrid; A combination of working from home/remotely and at MSUFCU Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI
  • Work Schedule: Part-time approximately 15-25 hours during MSUFCU business hours (8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday). A schedule will be determined around the intern's class schedule.
  • Duration: Spring Semester - Beginning January 7th, with potential to continue into future semesters
