About The Position

As an Information and Cybersecurity Intern at California Credit Union (CCU), you will play an integral role in safeguarding sensitive, classified data on the CCU network. You will assist in investigating information security incidents, conducting risk assessments, and contributing to the development of security training and awareness programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside the Vice President of Information Security and a collaborative team, gaining hands-on experience in cybersecurity practices aligned with the CCU Information Security Program.

Requirements

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Ability to work 100% in the office.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong discretion with handling confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to analyze data, reports, and manuals effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
  • Extraordinary customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with basic cybersecurity principles and willingness to learn advanced concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Incident Response: Investigate system security incidents, such as potential intrusions or malicious activities, and mitigate risks in compliance with policies. Escalate critical concerns to the VP, Information Security.
  • Risk Mitigation: Assist in testing key security controls and help identify, assess, and address vulnerabilities through risk-based decisions.
  • Compliance Support: Collaborate with the ITS team and Security Manager to ensure compliance of key information systems with security policies.
  • Research & Recommendations: Stay updated on cybersecurity best practices and suggest improvements to enhance the organization’s security posture.
  • Training & Awareness: Support the administration of the Security Training and Awareness Program by delivering basic security training to staff and promoting awareness.
  • Project Participation: Contribute to cross-functional projects and team initiatives, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Skill Development: Enhance interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills while building a foundational knowledge of cybersecurity operations.
