About The Position

The IT Security Engineer at Sanford Health is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing technical security controls to safeguard the organization's information systems. This role involves building, configuring, and maintaining cybersecurity systems to ensure compliance and security across various technologies. The engineer will also monitor security alerts, respond to operational tasks, and assist with strategic initiatives to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in cyber security or an information technology related field.
  • 2 years of experience working in the Cyber Security field.
  • Security Certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, Security+, CEH, etc.) are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement technical security controls to prevent, detect, contain, and respond to information security threats.
  • Build, configure, and maintain cybersecurity systems to ensure compliance and security.
  • Implement security controls using industry best practices across various technologies including SIEM, email filtering, web filtering, firewall, IPS/IDS systems, identity and access management, SSO/MFA, vulnerability management, and data protection.
  • Maintain existing security systems, implementing new features, performing upgrades, and managing configurations/policies.
  • Monitor and respond to security system health alerts.
  • Manage security tools while multitasking with strategic project initiatives.
  • Assist with strategic project initiatives, ensuring processes and procedures are well defined and documented.
  • Recognize internal and external threats and communicate risks to Sanford Assets.
  • Make strategic recommendations to enhance and improve overall security posture.
  • Recommend methods to increase efficiency of current toolsets, such as script automation or process improvement.
  • Write documentation for team members and other employees.
  • Identify gaps in established processes and update as needed.
