This role involves partnering with the CISO and SCDOR leadership to strengthen cybersecurity, reduce risk, and ensure compliance across all environments.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field and experience in business administration, computer science, mathematics, engineering, management information science, networking-telecommunications, or data processing. Experience must include the design and implementation of enterprise-level systems architecture in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted of the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of the IT Security industry, which includes multi-tiered architectures, enterprise applications, evaluation of emerging technologies, emerging threats, networks, data management systems, and hardware systems.
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS, IRS Pub 1075, IRS SCSEM, DISA STIG, and SCDIS specifications and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and directing SCDOR's cloud, hybrid, and on-premises security architecture to support business strategy
  • Providing expert consultation to the CISO, division staff, and SCDOR management
  • Developing and maintaining the Security Roadmap and ensuring alignment with policies and industry standards
  • Identifying outdated or redundant technologies to improve security posture and reduce risk
  • Communicating architecture strategies, issues, and changes to key stakeholders
  • Gathering requirements, designing, deploying, and optimizing security technologies
  • Recommending improvements to reduce attack surface and mitigate evolving threats
  • Configuring technical policies, evaluating integration with identity management systems, and supporting conditional access strategies
  • Researching, testing, and implementing security products to ensure performance and compliance
  • Collaborating across teams to strengthen security for networks, cloud systems, and all technology assets
  • Partnering with the SOC team on investigations and incident response
  • Supporting audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments
  • Ensuring controls meet compliance with PCI DSS, IRS Pub 1075, IRS SCSEM, DISA STIG, and SCDIS standards
  • Managing and developing a skilled, proactive, and accountable security team
  • Overseeing performance management, training, and career planning
  • Tracking expenses, contracts, and staffing needs
  • Providing advanced technical and administrative support for assigned security systems
  • Creating dashboards and reports for team and stakeholder visibility
  • Developing baselines, documentation, and monitoring standards
  • Configuring alerts, policies, and notifications aligned with best practices and emerging threats
  • Leading risk identification and security assessments of technologies, services, and vendors
  • Conducting hands-on evaluation of network, cloud, and security tools
  • Defining security requirements and evaluating design integration risks
  • Designing PKI systems and conducting vulnerability analyses to guide secure implementations
