About The Position

Assists and supports the IT Security Manger in the day-to-day security operations and functions of the Montana Judiciary. This position has a high level of responsibility in protecting the Judicial Branch from cybersecurity threats. The position works closely with system stakeholders from several departments within the Judicial Branch, coordinates with counterparts from SITSD, and assists end-users in a variety of positions across the state. Data research and analysis is inherent in most duties this position performs. Candidates should enjoy working with self-paced projects and defined timelines.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IT Security practices.
  • Knowledge of NIST and the Risk Management Framework.
  • Knowledge and experience in networking and security firewall administration.
  • Knowledge of current computer Operating systems.
  • Knowledge of software interrelationships between applications and databases.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity law and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Associate degree or 2 years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring of the web application Firewall via the administrative console, which consists of evaluating traffic for illegal events and responding accordingly. Coordinate that response with the system owner, minimizing any downtime.
  • Assist in RSA administration, responding to questions, and troubleshooting problems.
  • Monitor and make changes to network access controls such a VPN for end-users.
  • Assist in monitoring Sentinel One. Performs malware remediation and threat hunting within the Judiciary environment.
  • Assist in implementation of the cybersecurity awareness training program. Oversee compliance and ensures training completion by each employee.
  • Assist in comprehensive auditing for Judicial Branch information systems.
  • Process phishing emails by receiving suspect emails, analyzing emails, and reporting to recipients on the validity of the email. Report malicious emails to SITSD. When appropriate, report to IT Security Manager.
  • Perform vulnerability scans to search for potential cyber threats to the Judicial computer system and, when identified, work with IT department to research, implement and confirm mitigation steps.
  • Work with system stakeholders to gather and input system data into enterprise GRC tool RSA Archer.
  • Participate as a member of the Incident Response Team. Assist in reacting to identified cyber threats to resolve issues and help to maintain cyber security for the Judiciary.
