Our growing IT Risk Advisory Services practice, a specialty area within our Consulting Services group, is looking for enthusiastic interns to join our 2027 internship program. This is your chance to expand your knowledge, develop your skills and help organizations thrive! As an IT Risk Advisory Summer Intern, you'll be an integral part of our engagement team, focusing on IT compliance and advisory projects. You'll assist in preparing risk assessments, audit plan programs and internal audit reports. You'll work with a diverse range of clients across various industries in both the public and private sectors. This internship will prepare you for a future role in governance, risk and compliance, with a focus on testing IT and security controls to ensure organizations meet control requirements for various security frameworks. We understand the importance of work-life balance. That’s why we’ve embraced a hybrid work model, allowing you to enjoy the flexibility of working from home as well as in the office. Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office. Our summer session runs from mid-May to mid-August, and while flexibility is at the core of our culture, we expect interns to be available during working hours – Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, MIS or a related field
  • An anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028, with availability to begin full-time work by July 2028
  • A preferred overall GPA of 3.3 (3.0 minimum) or a combination of educational success and relevant work/volunteer experience

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience identifying, evaluating and documenting IT risks and controls
  • Exposure to various technology stacks, including Windows, Linux, SaaS platforms and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Opportunities to perform and document test results and walkthroughs of IT processes and controls
  • Experience evaluating evidence to determine if controls are designed and operating effectively for SOC 1, SOC 2, and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Involvement in special projects such as data mining, security assessments and process flowcharting
