About The Position

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our IT team, supporting a large enterprise, key government customer in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment. The Project Manager needs to be able to understand and execute the basic traditional principals of IT program management such as progress reporting, cost estimates and cost to complete reports, the ability to approve requirements, financial costs and budgets, deliverables, schedules, procurements, quality, etc. He/she must also have a solid understanding of the Government customer relationships along with understanding their technical IT capabilities. Should understand the enterprise collaboration baseline and have an understanding of the future strategic vision of the enterprise collaboration. This position requires a strong IT background and previous hands-on IT technical experience. A key aspect of the Project Manager’s job is to ensure that solutions are secure in accordance with the mission processes. This program delivers “No-Fail”, always-available enterprise services with modern technology solutions for the customer workforce on-premises. The Program Manager will be as a liaison lead between the on-site support team and the government customer across multiple site locations. Responsibilities will include participation with work force acquisitions, new hire site access along with in-processing and out processing, security nomination screening packages, training, and evaluation of performance for daily duties. Must be very reliable, highly competent, and exhibit confidence with a strong customer commitment to provide immediate solutions and results in a rapidly changing environment. This Project Manager utilizes existing collaboration baselined information found in sponsor’s tools and documents requirements appropriately. This position is located in Washington DC. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington DC or surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and at least 12 years of related experience
  • Minimum 10 years of IT related project experience across multiple disciplines for fast paced, high visibility IT projects/programs
  • Familiarity with IT project collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M))
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to professionally interact with high level military officers and civilian officials on a daily basis
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Computer Science and at least 10 years of experience
  • PMP Certification
  • Military experience
  • Experience creating, analyzing, and briefing reports and dashboards
  • Experience managing large enterprise projects in an agile environment

Responsibilities

  • Participation with work force acquisitions, new hire site access along with in-processing and out processing, security nomination screening packages, training, and evaluation of performance for daily duties.
  • Provide communication that leads to the understanding of deadlines, assignments and objectives across all enterprise stakeholders and ensure all project issues are resolved promptly to avoid negative impact to the budget or schedule.
  • Serve as programmatic liaison to the sponsor; maintain enterprise sponsor contacts to ensure conformity to all contractual obligations, exhibit strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical resources, engineering, developers, mission partners and senior officers.
  • Identify risks and document program progress including implementation, timelines, issues, risks, quality and successes measures to meet contractual requirements.
  • Resolve cross-project issues and strategic issues with senior IT stakeholders.
  • Work with the technical teams to ensure understanding of the projects/programs.
  • Work with stakeholders to remove project blockers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Track progress and project metrics.
  • Report & Brief senior leadership on project status, metrics, risks, issues, etc.
  • Demonstrate “visible” support to the program and its technical team.
  • Handle various responsibilities such as planning, scheduling and coordinating all areas of a project.
  • Ability to be self-reliant and capable to perform activities without direct supervision.
  • Lead transformational change.
  • Promptly resolve issues that arise.
  • Serve as part coach, part facilitator.
