THIS IS NOT A 100% REMOTE POSITION AND WE DO NOT OFFER SPONSORSHIP The IT project manager drives the operationalization and execution of all assigned projects and follows the established project management methodology to define project charter and objectives, create schedules, and oversight throughout the entire project. Responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, and implementing IT projects and designated department projects according to the identified specifications, deadlines, and budgets. Analyzing, investigating and developing cost-effective solutions to sponsored business initiatives. Design, plan and coordinate work teams and project teams. Facilitate and monitor project meetings and discussions. Provide some technical support to team members. Help establish best practices and business policies based on proposed solution or project.

Requirements

  • Efficient use of (current version) project process tools; such as Visio, Microsoft Office, project process templates, project workbook/notebook
  • Understanding of PMI PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge)
  • Understanding of information technology procedures and practices
  • Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software and hardware used in the industry
  • Excellent Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to instill sense of urgency and be able to motivate the same sense of urgency in those under their leadership
  • Strong communications skills, written and oral
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicates effectively with a diverse group of employees and treats co-workers with courtesy, respect, dignity, fairness, honesty, & presents a positive public image
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Business or other related discipline
  • Three to five years of related experience required

Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned IT projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope of project
  • Establishes and implements project communication plans, providing status updates to affected staff and stakeholders
  • General understanding of each IT group’s functions and systems responsibilities
  • General understanding of business functions and activities of each of the Firm’s staff divisions and lawyer practice groups
  • General understanding of the Firm’s vision and business goals
  • General understanding of the IT department’s vision and business goals
  • Thorough understanding of project process phases: discovery, design, construction, implementation and close out
  • Investigating solutions for identified business issues
  • Identify, analyze and implement technological solutions to improve existing business procedures and processes
  • Balance business background with sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to technology teams
  • Prepare technical, project and process-related documentation
  • Coordination of business and technical problem resolutions
  • Communicate effectively and provide appropriate feedback and follow-up with both internal and external customers
  • Maintain and improve the formal IT Project Process in accordance with generally accepted industry standards and best practices
  • Offer informal education, direction and leadership to others in the IT department on proper project management and customer service techniques
  • Determine methods of improving efficiency through the examination of business processes, policies, staffing, hardware and software
  • Maintain professional and accurate communication with project participants, IT staff, project clients, project sponsors and vendors
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships, coordinate and direct vendor responsibilities, identify cost effective solutions for professional services
  • Forecast and manage budgets and costs
  • Create and maintain project workbooks and project documentation including justification and business process definitions and decisions
  • Prepare IT status report to present during Firm IT Meeting
  • Oversee projects through closure as required for success and acceptance of implemented solutions
  • Effectively and professionally handle multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously
  • Help coach staff and project team members in project management functions and processes
  • Adapt to new technologies and/or add new job duties as directed
