GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY The IT Project Manager oversees all cross-functional projects that are deemed critical to the business, the majority of which will be within the IT organization’s area of accountability. Cross-functional projects would have a Functional Steward while multiple other functions work together to deliver project scope and objectives. Types of cross-functional projects would vary in type; the various functions that can be involved are IT, Design, Delivery, Land Acquisition, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, etc. The IT department at Compass Data Centers includes highly technical projects (Network, Building Technology implementations, Technology upgrades, etc.) and also include the Corporate Systems and Data Governance organization that perform varying degrees of software development, SaaS integrations, and every now and than, implementation of new technologies. Reporting directly to the Director of Program and Project Management, s/he will work with cross-functional teams to maintain and monitor all aspects of the assigned Compass projects. The PM will also be tasked with developing internal customer relationships in order to negotiate deliverable timelines and speak with customers regarding the status of the project, while assisting with the management and the creation of contracts with vendors and individual consultants using standard statements of work and contract conditions. The PM will have a continuously improved Program to follow, and in turn, be a key player in continuously developing said Program. The PM will be utilizing existing tools to successfully manage and run their projects, in addition to creating new tools based on established needs whether within the PMO, or while focusing on the Corporate Systems and Data Governance initiatives.

  • Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all personnel on assigned project(s) and consistently monitor project progress with available tools.
  • Coordinate and track all change requests from the team and project members
  • Maintain communication internally on project progress.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  • Conduct regular meetings with local staff to transfer knowledge and improve the ability of local teams to assist with future projects.
  • Manage and report on related budgets.
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Assess Critical Path Analysis and work with various project stakeholders to adjust deliverables to still achieve progress to the project objectives.
  • Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
  • Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.
  • Create a project management calendar for fulfilling each goal and objective.
  • Assisting with Procurement and the associated financial work.
  • Compiling weekly, monthly tracking and reporting of all statistical data pertinent to the role and the overall departmental objectives.
  • Interface, communicate and manage both external customers/vendors and internal customers in a professional and expedient manner.
  • Support the Customer teams as required post handoff of Corporate Systems and Data Governance projects.
  • Preparation, including documentation of functional process and procedures as required.
  • Manage, lead and assist on all Compass projects assigned to the PMO, such as projects required by the Systems and Data Governance team, Corporate IT Teams, or any other cross-functional projects that can sit within the Stewardship of any of the Compass functions (finance, design, delivery, global operations, supply chain, legal, sales, etc.).

  • Waterfall Project Management – Establishing the Project Framework for key component deliverables, identifying critical path analysis, establishing MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for phases that allow incremental growth.
  • Agile Project Management – Working with Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master to participate in Daily Standups to maintain Sprint MVP objectives, keep cadence of Sprint Deliverable and Sprint Schedules as they align to overall Project Milestone Deliverables.
  • Experience in Software Development projects within a Scrum / Agile framework is needed on many projects.
  • PC Skills – advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets and project planning tools (Monday.com; MS-Project; Jira; Azure Dev-Ops; Rally).
  • Use of PC/laptop to generate analytical and well documented analytical reports.
  • Project control and scheduling, meeting facilitation, financial modelling, project risk management, performance tracking, and forecasting.

  • High level of flexibility and responsiveness is required & work beyond standard hrs occurs weekly with every effort being made to keep the balance tolerable.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones is a requirement of the role.
