About The Position

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an IT Project Manager or Senior to join our Information Technology team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. What does a IT Project Manager do for us? Working independently, the IT Project Manager is responsible for managing schedules for medium to large, high-risk, multifaceted technology projects and resources, providing support, and coaching to other staff members, contributing directly to the maturity of the IT Portfolio Project Management Office (PPMO). The IT Project Manager will utilize IT PPMO standards to guide projects from initiation through completion. They will leverage techniques from both predictive and adaptive project approaches to deliver value while remaining on-time and within budget. The technology schedules typically managed by IT Project Managers can range from 6-24 months duration and may have budgets exceeding $1 million. The projects may include, but are not limited to software upgrades, hardware upgrades, software development, and off-the-shelf solution implementations. This position resides within the Information Technology (IT) PPMO organization. Requirements

  • Knowledge of project management principles - preferably from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Both predictive and adaptive project management processes and techniques
  • Business System Analyst (BSA) best practices including requirements management, business case development, process definition and improvement, and test management
  • Portfolio management
  • Software development practices and IT operations practices
  • Portfolio management methodologies and frameworks
  • Financial concepts and ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and track financial performance
  • Skills in communication

  • Experience managing highly-complex technology projects including but not limited to: enterprise-level technology implementations

Responsibilities

  • Analyze portfolio data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to inform decision-making
  • Develop creative solutions to address challenges and optimize portfolio performance
  • Ensure schedule integration and environment dependencies between projects is understood
  • Devise modeling and measuring techniques to integrate risks and opportunities with schedule and cost baseline, and to perform schedule risk assessments
  • Utilize performance and health metrics analyses to drive actions resulting in improved program performance
