The position involves testing and developing custom internal programs, designing test plans, and improving existing applications within the manufacturing environment. The role requires ensuring the proper operation of various IT systems, providing helpdesk services, and maintaining documentation of IT incidents. The candidate will also be responsible for facilitating employee training, supporting the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and adhering to health and safety standards.

  • Test and develop custom internal programs and features.
  • Design and create test plans for new features.
  • Improve existing applications and support the MES system.
  • Provide helpdesk services for all systems within the scope of responsibility.
  • Maintain, track, and document all IT helpdesk incidents and changes.
  • Convey information to management regarding operational problems.
  • Interface with vendors for data processing services and products.
  • Facilitate employee IS training by researching and scheduling training opportunities.
  • Install floor-based manufacturing systems and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Comply with Magna, government, and industry standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts.
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience with relational database technologies (e.g., SQL Server).
  • Prior experience in Information Systems, preferably in a manufacturing/automotive background.
  • Hands-on experience with various development technologies.
  • Good analytical skills and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of current web technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, XML, AJAX).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in complex database design and implementations.
  • HTML/JavaScript/C# entry programming skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience with MES standards & templates.
  • Hands-on experience with shop floor solutions (PLC's; databases, supervisor PC's).
  • Experience in organizational projects or change management.
  • Experience in JIT/JIS and batch manufacturing in automotive.
  • Experience in Microsoft .Net / Java development.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure (Server, Network).
