About The Position

The IT Professional I, under general direction, meets the IT needs of a unit where multifaceted expertise is required. Performs in specialty areas of systems, services, and/or applications. Performs unit-level support in multiple technical fields. Schedule: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four months (1 semester) of student worker and/or customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Intermediate troubleshooting skills.
  • Client relations skills.
  • Knowledge of ITIL.
  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.
  • Ability to move light, medium or heavy objects with assistance.
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements
  • This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.
  • May be required to provide on-call support on nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system

Responsibilities

  • Resolution of Technical Problems Confers with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters.
  • Provides assistance in resolving hardware and software problems with vendor technical support.
  • Research problems and recommends solutions.
  • Workstation/Software Support Installs, upgrades, and configures workstations and software.
  • Supports IT installation, wiring, and maintenance for mass transit systems.
  • Estimates and Reports Provides resource estimates and progress reports.
  • Provide operational analytic reports.
  • Compliance Ensures that work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Data Security Ensures security of customer data and applications in all phases of production.
  • Ensure proper handling of video related data.
  • Participate on committees to develop technical standards and direction.
  • Meets with customers and technical staff to determine information technology needs and requirements.
  • Provides input for the planning and budget process.
  • Participates in training and professional development sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
