The Virtual Compute team focuses on developing, implementing, and executing VMware-based virtualization and orchestration solutions. As Manager, you will lead this team, deploying, managing, optimizing, and securing the company's VMware-based virtualization infrastructure, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and delivering flexible, stable, and cost-effective solutions.   • 6+ years of experience with the ability to build, mentor, and empower high-performing technical teams
  • 3+ years of experience defining and managing IT projects
  • Experienced having direct reports where you are responsible for 1 on 1's, employee development, hiring, and performance management
  • Must be familiar with product lifecycle best practices
  • Must have experience in strategic planning, incident/risk management project management and resource allocation

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Experience running IT support and triage teams
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices related to system hardening, access control, and vulnerability management
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift (OCP), AWS or Azure
  • Experience managing projects using JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL frameworks, incident management, and IT service management best practices
  • ITIL Foundation certification or higher

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team that deploys, manages, optimizes, and secures Enterprise’s VMware-based virtualization infrastructure
  • Ensure alignment with vendors and industry best practices while delivering flexible, stable, and cost-effective solutions
  • Oversee forecasting and purchasing virtual hardware for all Enterprise data centers, supporting both virtual workstations and servers
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize compute infrastructure operations
  • Determine the time and resources needed to complete assignments
  • Assist team members in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks and projects where required
  • Perform people management activities, including career planning/support, training, interviewing, hiring, rewarding, disciplining, and performance and salary reviews
  • Plan, forecast, and manage license and support renewals as part of vendor management
  • Effectively manage resource responsibilities across projects that span multiple business units
  • Implement changes to improve the team's overall effectiveness
  • Ensure that service levels are met and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed
