About The Position

The IT Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the Ontario Convention Center Information Technology environments to assure system integrity and availability. Under the supervision of the Director of IT the IT Manger is expected to supervise, direct, plan, schedule and monitor all aspects of Event support and direct user support. The IT Manager reports directly to the IT Director.

Requirements

  • A minimum education level of: BS in IT or Computer Science preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Helpdesk or equivalent/escalating experience
  • Experience with Microsoft O365 Administration
  • Experience with Cloud based Phone systems
  • Experience with wired and wireless networking engineering, troubleshooting, and design in multi-venue, multi-vendor environment
  • Ability to learn and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
  • Employees may be scheduled to work until 12:00am or later.
  • Must be able to pass background.
  • Employee should use precautions & follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Ontario Convention Center technologies and services, including user-related incidents and requests in a (primarily) Windows and Macintosh environment.
  • Supporting network, internet, and telephony systems by providing network, wireless access, and telephony needs as requested by business stakeholders.
  • Manage and deliver tech services for events held at Ontario Convention Center in addition to onsite support.
  • Work directly with Ontario Convention Center tenants or affiliates on initiatives to establish new/emerging technology components.
  • Manage and develop standard operating procedures for Ontario Convention Center and to help manage and support its technology systems.
  • Work directly with the Director of IT and Legends Global IT group to ensure policies and procedures are being followed in addition to best practices.
  • Manage and schedule full-time / part-time event support staff and third-party vendors that are needed to support Ontario Convention Center and business as well as events.
  • Employee onboarding, offboarding and changes, direction from HR and hiring manager, set up equipment, software, etc. for new users, collect equipment, shut off access for exiting, work with hiring managers to provide any IT support new employee needs.
  • Oversee related contracted maintenance agreements and maintain good working relationship with 3rd party Network and Helpdesk (MSP) vendors
  • Develop bid specifications, renewal agreements, and manage all other related items to ensure that acceptable and quality performance levels are achieved.
  • Manage all cellular 3rd parties under contract with the Joint Powers Authority (JPA).
  • Manage physical access needs, repair requests, service modifications and improvements in conjunction with building facilities.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives focused on venue technology and moving the business forward.
  • Develop and execute plans that focus on operations excellence to increase overall efficiency.
  • Keep inventory of technologies systems for Life Cycle Management and budgeting purposes.
  • Establish budgets capturing capex costs for technology investments.
