About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking IT Manager of DevSecOps to lead a team of engineers focused on delivering secure, scalable, and reliable software delivery platforms and pipelines. This leader will play a critical role in shaping and executing Marathon Petroleum's DevSecOps strategy, enabling agile software development and improving technical capabilities that drive measurable business impact. The IT Manager will oversee daily operations, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and ensure solutions aligned with enterprise standards for security, governance, and resiliency. In addition to driving technology outcomes, this role provides strong leadership by recruiting, developing, and retaining top-tier talent while collaborating across business, infrastructure, and security teams to maximize value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.
  • 10+ years of diversified IT experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience leading professional staff required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages daily operations of the team, providing guidance, mentorship, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees recruitment, development, retention, and performance to build strong talent.
  • Plans and leads low- to medium-complexity IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Ensures the availability, reliability, and security of technology systems.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and internal groups to identify needs, deliver effective solutions, and support business objectives.
  • Defines and drives the DevSecOps strategy and roadmap aligned with business objectives, while promoting a culture of fast, secure delivery, continuous feedback, and learning.
  • Designs and manages enterprise-grade DevSecOps platforms—including CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and automated testing—alongside infrastructure-as-code and configuration management for scalable, repeatable deployments.
  • Embeds security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle, incorporating code analysis, vulnerability scanning, secret detection, and policy enforcement to ensure secure-by-default outcomes.
  • Oversee platform reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency through monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning across compute, storage, and orchestration layers.
  • Implements robust governance practices including access controls, audit logging, compliance reporting, and secure credential management to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Continuously evaluates emerging DevSecOps tools and practices, fosters cross-functional collaboration and supports business-aligned technology initiatives through budgeting and policy contributions.
