About The Position

Data Center Services is made up of multiple areas, including Data Center Operations (responsible for equipment, cable, environmental and physical security management), Production Control (responsible for batch processing scheduling for mainframe and distributed processing), Mainframe Support (responsible for mainframe technical and operational support (outsourced arrangement)), and IT Financial Support (responsible for providing financial accounting associated with IT acquisitions and maintenance support renewals for the IT Infrastructure.) As the IT Manager, you will lead a team of IT professionals collaborating with business stakeholders and technical teams. You will focus on associate management and development, including providing coaching opportunities to the team. You will also manage various projects and work with the SDLC process. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is on-site (Mon through Fri) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO. How you’ll spend your time: Interview candidates & make hiring decisions. Provide input, understanding & can execute towards a technology strategy. Set challenging yet attainable goals for associates, and performance management; requesting, managing & monitoring work efforts, ability to understand quality versus quantity. Serve in a liaison role for vendor management and working specifically coordinating with Managed Services Providers. Understanding current processes, promotes adherence, and provides recommendations for process improvements. Recognize ambiguity and follows-up to clarify expectations. Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements. Participate in the budget process and maintains a budgetary awareness. Understand lights-on, non-discretionary & discretionary work; actively manages load & resource planning. Manage projects & work efforts to a Service Delivery Life Cycle process (SDLC). Understands risk & impact to the business, recommend risk mitigation strategies and options for the business to consider.

Requirements

  • At least a college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and at least 3 years of technical work experience OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 3 years of management, supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Vendor relations experience in liaison roles, specifically coordinating with Managed Service Providers.
  • Mainframe operating infrastructure experience.
  • Experience with data center operations.
  • Any of the following demonstrated knowledge: Mainframe (z/OS) architecture, support and implementation Automate batch processing scheduling tools Data Center Infrastructure/Facilities
