Under general supervision, interns perform a wide variety of entry level to difficult technical duties in support of a segment of departmental activity. As an Intern (IT), you will have the opportunity to build the foundation of your IT career. Our commitment to collaboration and mentoring makes this internship the perfect place to start your career. Assignments include Help Desk Support, Network Administration, and various administrative tasks.

  • Prepare documents utilizing one or more software programs.
  • Assemble and distribute correspondence and other materials.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments.
  • Prepare and distribute documents such as agreements, contracts, resolutions, agendas, and reports.
  • Conduct research and compile reports from a variety of sources.
  • Assist in the performance of administrative tasks.
  • Receive visitors and answer telephone, respond to inquiries, provide information requiring an understanding of department policies and procedures.
  • Utilize various imaging software to create standard loads on City computers.
  • Install and verify operation of software packages based on user and departmental needs.
  • Stay current on hardware changes and maintain computer images accordingly.
  • Work in Active Directory and helpdesk ticketing systems to ensure accurate asset management.
  • Assist in the deployment of computer equipment and other projects as necessary.
  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies in an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • No prior work experience is required, but preference will be given to individuals with prior related work experience.
  • Proficient in Windows 10 & 11; experience in Windows Deployment services is preferred.
  • A+ Computer Certificate is required.
  • Highly desirable - MCSE, Comp TIA Network.
  • Experience in help desk support and network administration.
  • Knowledge of imaging software and Active Directory.
