About The Position

The Boise Co-op is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist who is a proactive problem-solver and takes pride in their work. This role is crucial for maintaining seamless IT operations across multiple locations, directly impacting daily functions and team success. The specialist will take ownership, improve processes, and mentor other IT staff, ensuring technology effectively supports the organization. The position involves supporting and advising the IT Director, assisting in system design and maintenance, coordinating vendor activities, and troubleshooting escalated technical issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of broad IT experience across networking, servers, firewalls, software, and desktop systems.
• Strong generalist background including Windows/Server environments, networking (Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti), firewalls (SonicWall, Palo Alto, FortiGate, etc.), Microsoft 365/Azure AD, VMware/Hyper-V, endpoint management, and basic scripting/automation.
• Proven ability to coordinate projects, mentor team members, and provide technical oversight.
• Trusted partner mindset with the ability to handle confidential information, communicate openly, and take full ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to keep teams aligned and informed.
• Equivalent combination of hands-on experience and technical knowledge preferred; results and real-world impact are valued over formal degrees or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Support and advise the IT Director on networks, firewalls, servers, and desktops.
• Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems across multiple sites.
• Review and validate work performed by IT staff; guide and mentor them on projects.
• Coordinate project-based vendor activities and ensure compliance with updates and security.
• Troubleshoot escalated technical issues and provide practical, lasting solutions.
• Capture knowledge and track projects to ensure lessons learned are retained and applied.
