About The Position

The Tier 1 IT Help Desk Technician at Harder Mechanical is responsible for providing in-house technical support to multiple offices, primarily based in Portland, Oregon. This role is critical for ensuring that all technical problems and inquiries from on-site and remote users are addressed efficiently. The technician will assist in problem resolution, comply with IT Service Management policies, and support various departments to maintain productivity. This position is not eligible for remote work and requires a strong desire to learn and improve IT practices.

Requirements

  • 1 - 2 years' experience providing business-level IT support.
  • High school diploma required; BS or BA degree in computer science or related field recommended.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Office 365) and Windows 10 Enterprise.
  • Strong knowledge of Android and iOS mobile operating systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and self-starter skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50lbs).
  • Ability to travel to job sites when required.
  • Ability to work varying shifts if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level support and guidance to users for problem resolution.
  • Comply with IT Service Management (ITSM) policies and procedures.
  • Respond to user requests for information and assist in problem resolution or escalation.
  • Deploy new and used desktops, laptops, and tablets following internal guides.
  • Manage mobile phone deployment, including standard, Android, and iOS devices.
  • Pack and ship IT equipment as needed.
  • Assist with IT inventory management.
  • Deploy copiers and printers, and set up scan-to-email/folder on network copiers.
  • Document and record all support inquiries using the internal ticket management solution.
  • Assist with application or system rollouts as directed by senior project leads.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing policies and procedures.
