The IT Help Desk Technician position at the City of Fort Worth is responsible for providing first-line support for IT-related issues to city staff, vendors, and contractors. This role involves assisting users through phone and email support, managing the ticketing system, and ensuring effective documentation of technical issues. The position operates within a hybrid work model, requiring some evening and weekend work as needed.

  • Provide remote technical support via phone and email.
  • Document technical issues with the necessary information for escalation.
  • Create, modify, and disable Active Directory accounts.
  • Correctly assign and re-assign IT tickets to appropriate teams.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • One year of experience in a computer help desk environment solving user problems in Windows operating systems, LAN/WAN, MS Office Suite, internet browsers, end-point security, Active Directory account management, permissions management, and mobile devices.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Minimum of one certification specific to the role such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, HDI Certification, or ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Possession of A+ certification, or ability to obtain within sixty days of hire.
  • At least one year of experience providing remote technical support over the phone.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven success in customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Help Desk Institute (HDI) Customer Service Representative or HDI Support Center Analyst certification.
