The Information Technology Generalist is an entry-level position responsible for providing assistance to any division within the Department of Information Technology. Job duties and responsibilities will change depending on the current demands of the department and staffing levels at any given point in time.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving routine IT productivity issues that may include hardware, software or a combination of the two.
  • Documenting computer and system related incidents and troubleshooting solutions as appropriate.
  • Escalating or assigning follow-up work to other IT staff as needed.
  • Answering Service Desk phones or providing front desk coverage as needed.
  • Researching and resolving technical issues utilizing the tools provided.
  • Learning and understanding various systems.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Associates degree or equivalent of two (2) years college courses in Information Technology, Technology Management or closely related field.
  • In lieu of an Associate's Degree, four (4) years previous experience and/or training involving technology support.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Must provide and maintain a personal vehicle to use to conduct official county business.
