The Director of Enterprise Applications is responsible for the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of the enterprise application landscape supporting a global manufacturing organization. This role ensures that core platforms—SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud (ERP), Windchill (PLM), Salesforce (CRM), Workday (HCM), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)—are stable, secure, scalable, and aligned to business strategy. The position serves as a key business partner to Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, HR, and Commercial leadership, driving global process standardization, application integration, and continuous improvement across regions. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is based in Plano, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience with leading teams in organizations in supporting and/or implementing enterprise applications
  • 7+ years leading global ERP and SaaS platforms in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience with SAP S/4HANA (Public Cloud strongly preferred)
  • Hands-on leadership experience with PLM, MES, CRM, and HCM platforms
  • Experience managing global, multi-vendor delivery and support models
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, finance, engineering, and commercial processes
  • Experience with cloud/SaaS operating models and system integrations
  • Knowledge of enterprise security, compliance, and controls
  • Strong grasp of application lifecycle management and platform governance
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to balance global standardization with regional business needs
  • Strong financial and vendor management acumen
  • Proven change leadership and decision-making capabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-country ERP and MES deployments
  • Exposure to product-centric manufacturing and engineering-driven organizations
  • SAP, Salesforce, Workday, or PTC certifications
  • Experience supporting M&A integration or global transformations

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Applications Strategy & Governance
  • Define and execute a multi-year enterprise applications roadmap aligned to business and digital strategy for our core applications.
  • Establish and enforce global application governance, including fit-to-standard principles, extension policies, and integration standards
  • Drive application rationalization, lifecycle management, and technical debt reduction
  • Ensure consistent global templates and minimize customizations across all major platforms
  • Integration & Data Enablement
  • Own the enterprise integration architecture, ensuring reliable data flows across our core applications.
  • Promote API-based, event-driven, and cloud-native integration patterns
  • Partner with data and analytics teams to ensure trusted, consistent enterprise data
  • Delivery, Operations & Service Management
  • Oversee application development, enhancements, and support using Agile and ITIL-aligned practices
  • Define and monitor application KPIs (availability, performance, adoption, incident trends, cost)
  • Ensure compliance with security, SOX, GDPR, and regulatory standards
  • Drive automation, testing, and operational efficiency improvements
  • Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to global business leaders across Finance, Operations, Engineering, HR, and Commercial
  • Lead demand management, prioritization, and value realization tracking
  • Communicate complex technology and integration topics clearly to executive audiences
  • Vendor & Financial Management
  • Manage strategic vendors including SAP, Salesforce, PTC, Workday, MES providers, and system integrators
  • Own application budgets, forecasts, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Ensure vendor performance, SLA adherence, and contract compliance
  • People Leadership
  • Lead and develop a global team of application leaders, architects, and analysts
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, standardization, and continuous improvement
  • Drive skills development in cloud, SaaS platforms, and manufacturing systems
  • Support succession planning and organizational maturity
