About The Position

MATT Construction, the General Contractor that built such iconic Los Angeles structures as The Broad Museum and Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, is seeking a IT Director to join our team. The IT Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all technology initiatives across a $500M general contractor with offices, jobsites, and mobile users throughout Southern California. This role is responsible for developing and executing a multi-year IT roadmap while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of day-to-day IT operations supporting both office and field environments. Leading a lean IT organization, the IT Director oversees infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, vendor relationships, and emerging technologies - including AI and automation - to enhance efficiency, safety, and competitiveness in a hands-on, project-driven construction environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably in construction, AEC, or a field-based environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing both strategic IT initiatives and operational IT delivery.
  • Expertise in enterprise systems, infrastructure, cloud architecture, and cybersecurity.
  • Proven track record of leading digital transformation and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing budgets, vendors, and executive stakeholders.

  • Prior experience with Procore and CMiC highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi-year IT strategy aligned with business objectives, operational needs, and growth plans.
  • Partner with executive leadership to integrate technology into construction operations, corporate services, and long-term business strategy.
  • Champion innovation through AI, automation, and advanced construction technologies.
  • Establish IT standards, policies, and governance frameworks to support scalability and consistency.
  • Provide executive oversight of day-to-day IT operations across offices, jobsites, and mobile users.
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure, including: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online Networking (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, Wi-Fi, jobsite connectivity) Endpoints (Windows, mobile devices), cloud services, backups, and disaster recovery
  • Serve as the final escalation point for critical system outages, security incidents, and service issues.
  • Ensure documentation, operational procedures, and standards are maintained and followed.
  • Oversee selection, implementation, integration, and optimization of enterprise systems, including: Construction ERPs (P6, CMiC) Project management platforms (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud) Document management, BIM, and field technologies
  • Ensure effective integrations and data flows between systems to support reporting, project execution, and financial controls.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify process improvements enabled by technology.
  • Lead evaluation, piloting, and deployment of AI-driven and emerging technologies, including: Predictive scheduling and cost modeling Digital twins, 360° site capture, and field intelligence tools Automation and low-code solutions to improve internal workflows
  • Balance innovation with operational stability, security, and ROI.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise cybersecurity and risk management programs, including: Identity and access management, MFA, endpoint protection, and patching Vendor and application risk assessments Incident response planning and remediation
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, regulatory, and insurance requirements.
  • Own IT budgeting, forecasting, and long-term cost planning.
  • Negotiate and manage strategic vendor relationships, MSPs, carriers, and software providers.
  • Ensure vendors meet service, security, and performance expectations.
  • Translate technology investments into measurable business value and ROI.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional IT team in a collaborative, no-silos environment.
  • Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure coverage across systems and environments.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Lead organizational change management related to technology adoption.
