About The Position

The IT Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data warehouse and data integration solutions that enable clinical, financial, and operational analytics in the healthcare environment. The role requires strong technical skills in ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and performance optimization, along with knowledge of healthcare data sources and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (Master’s a plus).
• 3–5 years of experience in data engineering or data warehousing, preferably in healthcare.
• Strong SQL development and data modeling expertise.
• Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DBT, Azure Data Factory, Matillion).
• Experience with cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, GCP BigQuery).
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD, CPT, SNOMED).
• Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load healthcare data from EHRs, claims systems, billing, pharmacy, and other sources into the data warehouse.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes using tools such as Informatica, Talend, DBT, Azure Data Factory, or Matillion.
• Partner with BI/analytics teams to ensure data structures meet reporting and dashboard requirements.
• Tune queries and optimize warehouse performance for large-scale healthcare datasets.
• Implement and monitor data quality checks to ensure clean, accurate, and complete healthcare data.
• Ensure secure handling of PHI/PII in compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support self-service analytics by preparing well-structured, high-quality data.
