About The Position

Zermount Inc. is seeking a motivated Information Technology / Cybersecurity Specialist who is ready to provide their knowledge of IT practices and processes in a fast-paced, real-world environment, and provide support to the IT Team. The Intern will assist in supporting the IT team with the maintenance or hardware, software, and other systems. As well as troubleshooting issues with equipment like printers, computers, and servers. This role includes running software updates and backups when requested. This will be a valuable experience for anyone looking to pursuing a career in the cybersecurity field.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, or related field
  • Familiar with Java, .NET, JavaScript or HTML/DHTML and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well in teams.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and credibility.

Nice To Haves

  • An IT or cybersecurity certification meeting DOD 8570 IAT Level I or more advanced is highly desired.
  • Cybersecurity Foundations: Completed courses covering principles of information security, risk management, and compliance.
  • Industry Certifications: Coursework aligned with professional certifications, including CompTIA Security+, CISSP Associate, and CISM Associate, demonstrating knowledge of security architecture, governance, and threat mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Basic Cybersecurity knowledge: understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA triad), common threats, and security best practices.
  • Network Fundamentals: Familiarity with network protocols, architectures, and basic network security principles.
  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in common operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or macOS, including basic system administration tasks.
  • Security Tools: Exposure to cybersecurity tools and software such as antivirus, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and vulnerability scanners.
  • Security Awareness: A strong understanding of social engineering tactics, phishing awareness, and the ability to recognize potential security risks.
  • Basic Scripting and Programming: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and programming concepts, which can be valuable for automation and security tasks.
  • Cybersecurity Frameworks: Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST Cybersecurity Framework or CIS Controls and their application.
  • Security Policies and Procedures: Understanding of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and compliance requirements relevant to the organization.
  • Incident Response: Basic knowledge of incident response procedures and the ability to assist in handling security incidents.
  • Security Awareness Training: Completion of basic cybersecurity awareness training programs.
  • Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support.
  • Organize and maintain IT resources.
  • Provide technical support in response to user requests for service.
  • Assist with troubleshooting IT issues, provide technical support, and help develop IT solutions.
  • Monitor antivirus software and update and repair computers infected with spyware, adware, viruses, etc.
  • Lend IT support in areas such as cybersecurity, programming, analytics, and data center management.
  • Develop and provide user training for basic hardware and software use.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects such as software development and implementation
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging cybersecurity threats to support business development efforts.
  • Assist in the development and writing of technical proposals for cybersecurity projects, ensuring they are clear, concise, and compelling.
  • Analyze data related to business development activities, including market research, client feedback, and proposal success rates.
  • Work closely with business development, technical, and project management teams to gather necessary information and insights for proposal development.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of documentation related to business development and IT activities.
  • Support client engagement efforts by preparing materials for meetings, presentations, and other client interactions.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development and IT activities.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in IT, cybersecurity, and business development.
