About The Position

The IT, Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing Instructor position is an adjunct, part-time role requiring up to 28 hours of work per week, spread over up to 4 days. The schedule is flexible, allowing for adjustments as needed. The instructor will design and prepare systematic and sequential instructions with relevant learning activities to meet course objectives. Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator, the instructor will deploy technologies in labs, assist students with certification preparation, and teach assigned courses. The role also involves revising course content to align with evolving business needs in IT, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing, as well as promoting the program and participating in student recruitment activities. The instructor will attend advisory board meetings, modify existing courses, and ensure that program standards meet current industry needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of proven professional experience in IT Network Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, or Cloud Computing.
  • Knowledge/practical experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and other major platforms.
  • Experience in Technical Support and Help Desk roles.
  • Experience in Network Operations Level 1 or Level 2 roles.
  • Experience with End User Hardware/Devices and Software.
  • Cloud Computing experience with platforms like Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • General Cybersecurity knowledge and various specialties.
  • Experience in Software/Application development.
  • Scripting experience in languages such as Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, Ruby, PHP, Perl, or Bash.
  • Post-Secondary teaching experience or corporate training experience preferred.
  • Valid Licensure/Permit by the Ohio Department of Education as an Adult Education Instructor.
  • Current or recent Certifications from CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, or GCP.
  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity and practical experience with Cybersecurity and Networking technologies from leading vendors.
  • Certifications from Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point Software Technologies, or CompTIA.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and prepares meaningful, systematic and sequential instructions with relevant learning activities.
  • Deploys technologies and/or applications in the labs for assigned classes.
  • Assists students with certification assessment preparation.
  • Teaches courses assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Regularly revises assigned courses in collaboration with the Program Coordinator.
  • Promotes the Program and participates in recruitment of new students.
  • Attends Program Advisory Board meetings and shares perspectives on program needs.
  • Modifies existing courses and introduces new technologies into the Program.
  • Prepares students for on-the-job training or employment.
  • Attends departmental instructional and informational meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and flexibility to meet student needs.
  • Stays current with changes in relevant technologies.
