The IT Cyber Security Administrator at Bernalillo County is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the information technology security posture of the organization. This role involves a variety of professional duties related to Information Technology Security Administration (ITSA) and data protection across different operating systems. The administrator will assist in the development of security systems and processes, modify and maintain existing IT security systems, and ensure compliance with security policies. A key aspect of this position is to monitor security policy compliance and maintain a robust data protection environment. The administrator will perform all aspects of IT security, which includes the installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of security devices and systems. In this role, the IT Cyber Security Administrator will work closely with the Security Engineer to stay updated on the latest threats, trends, and technology solutions. They will recommend design changes to the information security roadmap and provide user training on security policies and basic IT security practices. The administrator will ensure that the networks and data systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, such as HIPAA and CJIS. They will also be responsible for security monitoring, mitigation, documentation, and auditing for compliance and investigative purposes. The position requires the administrator to assist in developing security procedures and policies, perform computer forensics as needed, and maintain the County's security appliances across various operating systems. They will analyze network traffic to identify abnormal patterns and take appropriate actions to mitigate security vulnerabilities. Additionally, the administrator will monitor for security breaches, investigate incidents, and ensure that management is informed promptly about any security issues. They will also run security scans to identify system vulnerabilities and prepare reports for executive staff and internal departments. The role includes being on call 24/7 for any security-related issues and performing other job-related duties as assigned.
