About The Position

The IT Co-Op Student position at MIT Lincoln Laboratory involves supporting the Advanced Sensor Systems & Test Beds group in developing and assessing integrated systems for defense applications. The role focuses on operating system installations, network infrastructure maintenance, and troubleshooting various IT issues, contributing to the enhancement of the group's computer requirements.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in accredited Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Networking/IT Degree program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be knowledgeable of various operating systems: Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Mac OS X, and Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft application software as well as other application software, and should have a basic understanding of networking.
  • Must have at least completed freshman year.

Responsibilities

  • Complete operating system installations and troubleshooting for Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, and Linux (Red Hat and Ubuntu).
  • Configure and maintain network infrastructure within the LAN between Windows and UNIX/Linux as well as connections to the LAN from remote locations.
  • Assist staff members in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Identify vulnerabilities across all IT assets and apply patching and other fixes for remediation.
  • Assist in developing our growing IT infrastructure. Work on existing projects and help develop new projects aimed at improving the group's computer requirements.
