About The Position

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to elicit, develop, analyze, and validate business and technical requirements for a request or project. The IT Business Analyst is a liaison between IT and the business stakeholders. When applicable, the IT BA is working with external third parties to develop requirements for exchanging file information between the vendor and Nova. The IT BA is accountable to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process. The IT BA is responsible for developing a quality assurance test plan and executing on that test plan, working with IT and the stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Four (4) years of business analyst experience in a healthcare organization or four (4) years of experience at Nova with demonstrated ability to provide systems analysis required.
  • Must be able to understand regulatory requirements and design process and systems support around them; knowledge of self-funded insurance or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization, and to understand and articulate complex systems, process and/or concepts with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to focus and clarify concepts; strong analytical skills; must be comfortable and confident with presenting solutions and recommendations to clients.
  • Ability to document complex processes (i.e., create workflow diagrams, procedure development) and analytical skills to prepare and analyze business plans and technical designs required.
  • Ability to successfully drive change within an organization.
  • Demonstrate systems/process thinking approach to problem solving.
  • Proven examples of displaying the Nova’s Core 4: Act with Passion, Work Together, Be Accountable, Build Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • knowledge of self-funded insurance or healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning & Design Activities Lead the business definition and process development of enterprise projects and initiatives using the standard business requirements template and following the approved software development life cycle (SDLC) as defined by Nova.
  • Work with the Business Teams, project sub-teams and vendor(s) to finalize high-level business requirements and design new solutions to meet the business’ requirements.
  • Utilize SQL (Structured Query Language) to make decisions on how to build the technical specifications for the project.
  • Develop a data migration approach.
  • Develop an integrated Test Plan.
  • Document, monitor and resolve issues and risks identified by all Team members.
  • Execution, Testing, Deployment & Postproduction activities Work with the Business Teams and project sub-teams to ensure a successful project.
  • Work with assigned sub-team(s) to ensure timely and accurate completion of planned deliverables.
  • Develop the detailed design and construct the new solution to meet the business’ requirements.
  • Define detailed functional and technical requirements.
  • Utilize SQL to analyze the test results from the development team.
  • Assist with the detailed configuration of the solution.
  • Assist with the re-engineering of business processes.
  • Develop/execute a detailed, integrated Test Plan and user test cases.
  • Develop and execute the planned data migration plan.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive User Training plan, that includes all process and system documentation.
  • During the postproduction (warranty phase), ensure the application, file, or report is processed or runs according to the desired outcome.
  • Applications Management Support the leveraging of appropriate technology to maximize efficiencies and opportunities in support of Nova’s processes and policies with the focus of providing customer centric total solutions.
  • Develop, document and review core systems requirements, enhancement development and documentation, analysis of upgrade and conversion impact, configuration and process analysis, systems testing and QA.
  • Support procedure review and re-engineering, troubleshooting, quality initiatives, reporting, data analysis and staff training.
  • Lead the solution identification and implementation processes for run-the-business and strategic projects.
  • Leadership Provide team leadership, facilitation, and direction of work teams.
  • Champion enterprise initiatives in support of strategic initiatives and department principles through developed relationships with stakeholders, other department leaders and work teams.
  • Lead and motivate teams through specific task oriented and overall project achievements.
