About The Position

Authority Partners is seeking an IT Business Analyst with a deep understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and full application development methodologies. This role is critical in ensuring that business needs are accurately translated into well-defined, technically feasible, and value-driven solutions. The successful candidate demonstrates strong strategic thinking, adaptability, and a disciplined mindset of 'first learn, then do'. You will invest time in understanding the business context, application landscape, architecture, and delivery processes before driving requirements, process improvements, and solution outcomes. A strong understanding of how applications are designed, built, tested, deployed, and supported is essential. This role bridges business, product, and technology teams across the entire development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, product management or product ownership.
  • Extensive experience as an IT Business Analyst at an advanced or expert level.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and application development fundamentals.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams and traditional delivery models.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, data, integrations, and system architecture concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale environments (energy, finance, or technology preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Technical literacy to collaborate effectively with engineering and architecture teams.
  • Prior consulting experience (preferred for contract engagements).
  • Ability to prioritize, refine, and facilitate backlog items to align business goals with delivery outcomes in Agile teams.
  • The capability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure product success and business continuity.
  • A human-centered approach to problem-solving drives innovative, desirable, and feasible product solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis activities across the full SDLC: discovery, requirements, design, build, test, deployment, and post-release support.
  • Develop a deep understanding of applications, integrations, data flows, and system dependencies.
  • Work closely with architects, developers, testers, and product owners to ensure shared understanding of requirements and solutions.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure traceability from business objectives through requirements to delivered functionality.
  • Support solution design by validating alignment with business goals, technical constraints, and architectural standards.
  • Lead complex requirements elicitation using interviews, workshops, process walkthroughs, and data analysis.
  • Document requirements using appropriate artefacts such as BRDs, FRDs, functional requirements, user stories, process diagrams, and use cases.
  • Manage requirement changes and dependencies across initiatives and releases.
  • Ensure requirements are testable and support UAT planning and execution.
  • Analyze end-to-end business and system processes before proposing improvements.
  • Understand how business processes are enabled by applications and underlying technology.
  • Design future-state processes and system interactions that improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
  • Assess impacts of changes across people, process, data, applications, and integrations.
  • Quickly assess IT environments, delivery models, and organizational maturity.
  • Adapt analysis techniques to Agile or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Think strategically while remaining hands-on where detail is required.
  • Navigate ambiguity, changing priorities, and evolving technical constraints.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, product managers, and IT leadership.
  • Facilitate complex discussions with senior and technical stakeholders.
  • Bridge communication between business and technical teams.
  • Mentor and coach other Business Analysts in IT and SDLC best practices.
  • First learn, then act, and deeply understand before changing or designing.
  • Adapt to the situation, tools, and processes rather than forcing a fixed approach.
  • Focus on business outcomes enabled by technology.
  • Balance strategic vision with practical, deliverable solutions.
