About The Position

IT Audio Engineer Job Description EXEMPT:                              NO Department:                      Audio Visual (AV) Reports To:                       AV Manager Location:                            Fayetteville Public Library Date Revised:                    April 4, 2024 SAFETY SENSITIVE:               NO ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Setup and operate audio equipment such as soundboard/mixer, EQ, mics, speakers (indoor, outdoor, large venue, portable), for all types of events including concerts, corporate presentations, author talks, etc. 2. Setup, Operate, and Strike A/V equipment for events, including live steams, as assigned. 3. Provide audio recording services for post projects (multitrack live event recording, voiceovers, etc.). 4. Be the first line of IT and AV support for staff and patron issues. Respond to IT support tickets and help desk calls. Document issues in ticket system. 5. Install new hardware and software as directed. 6. Provide front-of-house audio engineering services for indoor and outdoor library events. 7. Setup AV gear and run cameras and switcher for live streaming of library events. 8. Facilitate audio training for staff and patrons. 9. Work with management to develop audio training programs for staff and patrons. 10. Perform basic networking tasks, cabling, troubleshoot networking issues. 11. Construct and repair a wide range of A/V power and data cables. 12. Assist internal customers in person, via email, and by phone. 13. Assist in development of original digital content (videos, podcasts, etc). 14. Provide support and troubleshoot library AV and RFID systems. 15. Build equipment racks and dress all cabling in a professional manner. 16. Display excellent time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work proactively to balance multiple tasks and prioritize work. Complete work at an appropriate pace with a sense of urgency. 17. Demonstrated knowledge of safety equipment and procedures. Carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to yourself, other staff, vendors, customers, and the Library. Maintain all equipment in like new condition. 18. Collaborate with supervisor on departmental projects to ensure the smooth operation of the department. 19. Help orient new staff, ensuring a smooth acclimation to the library and our culture. Train staff members as assigned. 20. Conduct special projects as assigned. 21. Represent your department on various library committees as assigned. 22. Assume personal responsibility for building maintenance and solving minor issues and problems. 23. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, plus specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of Live Audio experience required.
  • Minimum age to meet AOSH requirements for working near an automated conveyor and sorting system.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills including experience with Microsoft operating systems, Office Software, and Programming Languages. Understanding of basic networking concepts.
  • Advanced audio editing and production skills, intermediate video editing and production skills, and basic lighting control and design skills.
  • Must have ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a telephone, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, and hand-held radio.
  • Working knowledge and experience with multichannel audio formats such as AES50, Dante, and MADI
  • Familiarity with Analog and Digital consoles including X32 and Dlive.
  • Working knowledge of multitrack audio recording programs such as ProTools, Audition, Logic, Ableton.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as assigned that includes evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts is required
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective and valued team member.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to learn about library information systems.
  • Ability to learn and carry out emergency procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years Post Production experience a plus.
  • Audio Visual/ Convention Center/ Hotel/ Arena/ Large Venue/ Broadcast experience is a plus.
  • Multilingual skills a plus.
