About The Position

We operate two major brands—Lofty, a real estate technology company, and Trucker Path, a navigation app for the trucking industry. What’s the objective? The IT Assistant Independent Contractor will support the organization’s IT asset management and lifecycle processes by triaging, sanitizing, refurbishing, and redeploying electronic equipment. This work ensures proper inventory control, data security compliance (SOC 2 Type 2 standards), and responsible disposal or donation of non-compliant devices. The following services and deliverables will be provided by the IT Assistant Independent Contractor. Success will be measured by accurate inventory tracking, secure handling of data, and the successful redeployment or disposition of electronic assets, as determined by the Director of Global IT, Security and Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a full triage of all electronic inventory, including laptops, mice, keyboards, headsets, docking stations, and power supplies.
  • Assess condition, usability, and classification (redeploy, recycle, or donate).
  • Establish and maintain accurate inventory counts and asset tracking documentation.
  • Sanitize and wipe all applicable devices in accordance with SOC 2 Type 2 compliance standards.
  • Utilize approved tools (e.g., Blancco or equivalent) to ensure complete and secure data removal.
  • Maintain documentation and logs of all sanitization activities for audit purposes.
  • Clean and refurbish equipment designated for internal reuse.
  • Test devices to ensure full functionality, including hardware and peripheral compatibility.
  • Install and image approved company software on devices.
  • Update operating systems and ensure all devices meet current security and performance standards prior to redeployment.
  • Sort and properly dispose of electronic waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare non-compliant or excess equipment for donation, ensuring all devices are properly sanitized and functional where applicable.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and transfer of donated assets.
