The IT Asset & Configuration Manager plays a crucial role in the Management Information Systems (MIS) division, overseeing the integrity of the IT Asset Repository and Configuration Management System. This position is responsible for managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle, from procurement to disposal, while identifying opportunities to enhance business processes and reduce costs. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of IT Asset Management Lifecycle, Configuration Management, and ITIL principles.

  • Maintain the integrity of MWRA's IT Asset Repository for all hardware and software assets.
  • Manage the operational aspects of the IT Asset Management Lifecycle throughout MIS.
  • Ensure data accuracy in the IT Asset Repository and remediate any gaps.
  • Resolve discrepancies between the IT Asset repository and discovery tools.
  • Develop and enhance policies and procedures for tracking company assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Work with IT Financial Management to ensure all assets are under contract for support.
  • Aggregate software purchasing and license data.
  • Supervise data normalization and audit/verification activities.
  • Identify candidate licenses for harvesting from retired or repurposed assets.
  • Identify non-compliant software and manage IT Asset Lifecycle Management reporting and metrics.
  • Plan and coordinate activities for the Configuration Management process.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of the Configuration Management process and track compliance.
  • Supervise staff conducting physical inventories and ensure compliance with policies and deadlines.
  • Direct staff assisting with the disposal of computer assets and provide training to assigned staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience in IT procurement or asset management, including managing contracts and software licenses.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles.
  • Ability to assign work, train, and oversee staff.
  • Proven communication skills with staff and management at all levels.
  • Understanding of license models, software delivery, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, data processing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic principles of financial management.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • ITAM certification in Software, Hardware, or Mobility (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
