About The Position

Copeland is seeking a highly skilled and visionary ServiceNow Architect to join our growing ServiceNow Team. This individual will provide enterprise-level technical and strategic leadership across the platform, ensuring that our ServiceNow ecosystem is designed, built, and governed to align with Copeland's business needs, industry best practices, and IT governance standards. The ServiceNow Architect will serve as a key partner to the ServiceNow Platform Owner and IT Leadership, while also collaborating closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders. This role requires both high-level architectural vision and the ability to guide technical solutions, ensuring our platform remains scalable, secure, and optimized for global enterprise-wide use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong foundation in systems architecture, which is typically gained from at least 3 years in an architect or lead role.
  • 3+ years of proven expertise in ServiceNow architecture, design, and governance across ITSM and at least one other major product suite (e.g., HRSD, ITOM, ITAM, CSM, SecOps).
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow development best practices, including Flow Designer, Integration Hub, scripting (JavaScript, Glide), data model design, and CMDB architecture.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise-scale implementations and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of platform performance, scalability, and security considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification is required, or must be achieved within 180 days of hire.
  • 7 years of experience with ServiceNow is preferred.
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in at least one area (HRSD, ITSM, ITOM, etc.).
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA) - highly preferred.
  • Experience working in global, multi-region environments.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance, ITIL framework, Agile / Scrum methodologies, and enterprise governance models.
  • Strong track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners/consultants to drive innovative solutions and achieve enterprise objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the overall architecture of the ServiceNow platform to support Copeland's enterprise transformation and digital roadmap.
  • Partner with the Platform Owner to establish governance, standards, and guidelines that balance business agility with long-term stability.
  • Translate business strategies and operational needs into modular, scalable technical designs.
  • Provide thought leadership on platform evolution, staying ahead of ServiceNow release cycles, new product capabilities, AI-driven features, and industry trends.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership on how ServiceNow can best address business challenges, balancing end user needs with long-term platform maintainability.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to shape high-level solution designs, across multiple concurrent projects, that align with governance and standards.
  • Develop and validate high-level solution designs and proof-of-concept prototypes to assess feasibility, ensuring that security, compliance, and performance standards are embedded early in all platform designs.
  • Ensure a smooth handoff to developers by framing clear, technically feasible solution designs grounded in deep knowledge of Copeland's ServiceNow ecosystem.
  • Guide developers and analysts on solution design, integrations, and configuration, ensuring adherence to Copeland and ServiceNow best practices.
  • Provide hands-on architectural leadership for key initiatives, including HRSD, ITSM, ITOM, Finance, GRC, SPM, Integration Hub, and Employee Center Pro.
  • Own and lead Copeland's mandatory ServiceNow upgrades to ensure compliance with ServiceNow's n-1 requirement.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute annual platform upgrades, including regression testing, stakeholder communications, and change management.
  • Partner with developers, testers, and business stakeholders to identify, remediate, and document impacts from deprecations, new features, and compatibility issues.
  • Ensure upgrade activities align with Copeland's governance, change management, and SOX compliance standards.
  • Ensure upgrade and project-related solutioning favors out-of-the-box functionality and minimizes unnecessary customization.
  • Establish and enforce coding, configuration, and documentation standards across the ServiceNow Team.
  • Lead design reviews, solution validations, and architecture checkpoints for major enhancements and integrations.
  • Partner with IT security, infrastructure, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with Copeland's IT policies and regulatory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain an architecture blueprint and system documentation for ServiceNow.
  • Serve as a bridge between leadership and technical teams - able to communicate complex technical details in simple, actionable terms.
  • Mentor developers and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
  • Support capacity planning and platform scalability as adoption grows across Copeland.
  • Engage with external partners and ServiceNow account teams to evaluate new modules, accelerators, and managed services.
