As an IT apps programmer lead - python joining EDCS as a Python Technical Application Owner, you'll have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of technological innovation within a dynamic and collaborative environment. As a Python TAO, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Python usage at Progressive. This position allows you to work closely with a diverse team of experts, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions that enhance the user/developer experience by making Python an integral part of our tech stack. You'll have the chance to lead and influence long-term technology strategies, engage with various communities of practice, and drive impactful changes that optimize our software development processes.   • Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and minimum of six years of work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications.
  • In lieu of the above, a high school diploma or GED or higher, the completion of a technical training program, and a minimum of six years related work experience.
  • In lieu of the above, a high school diploma or GED or higher and a minimum of eight years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs and applications.
  • Expert level proficiency in Python along with knowledge of Python package managers like PIP, poetry, conda and package mirrors such a PyPL and Anaconda along with familiarity of Python on multi-platform environments (windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Proven experience with IDEs like Visual Studio Code, PyCharm, and other JetBrains IDEs and familiarity with CI/CD solutions like Azure DevOps, GitHub, and JetStream.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, create and implement long-term technology strategies and roadmaps.
  • Experience leading in a collaborative, community driven environment including establishing or evolving communities of practice.
  • Ability to work closely with security, compliance and Open source software packages.
