The person in this IT Application Developer Lead position on the Web Development Team will be working daily at the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems using agency and team determined tools and platforms on cross-platform web development projects in support of critical line-of-business systems, serving the citizens of the State of Nebraska. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis, one year of which as a project coordinator, leader, or supervisor.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Use web application development tools and utilities as appropriate.
  • Design, develop, code, debug, test, implement, document, update and maintain the software development projects.
  • Use appropriate code standards (a set of rules, and best practices to create cleaner, more efficient code) including an agile workflow based upon the project type and the associated coding needs.
  • Review code of teammates, identifying and enforcing code standards.
  • Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment including consideration of existing processes.
  • Lead the efforts in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and production support.
  • Mentor junior developers.
  • Daily consulting with business analysts and clients within the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems.
  • Conducts application and database testing at multiple levels including Development and UAT (User Acceptance Testing), including executing complex data-driven testing.
  • Coordinate testing efforts with clients as well as other team functions such as Release Management, Infrastructure and Architecture Support, Application Support, and Change Management.
  • Document changes and update the status of work items in Microsoft Azure as software changes are promoted from development environments to user acceptance testing and production.
