About The Position

The IT Admin I position at Layne Christensen Company is responsible for providing local network support across various business units, including the main office, plants, and job sites. The role involves managing technical services, resolving issues with desktop and network systems, and ensuring efficient IT operations. The position also includes supervising IT staff, maintaining relationships with end users, and developing IT projects aligned with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of training, experience, and certifications.
  • CompTIA A+ certification.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional preferred.
  • CompTIA Network+ preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in network and PC support for a multi-site business environment.
  • 0 to 1 year experience supervising or managing IT personnel.
  • Familiarity with cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003 Server and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of HP servers, workstations, and storage products.
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco Internetworking products.
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve local network and communication issues to maintain operational readiness.
  • Maintain and support local Cisco VoIP telephones and related equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the local Active Directory OU and installation of local network applications.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of business unit IT documentation.
  • Assist in testing local Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
  • Coordinate the acquisition, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment.
  • Maintain hardware inventory, licensing, and asset rotation.
  • Assist with design and maintenance of IT resources for acquisitions and projects.
  • Support business applications to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Assist management in determining future IT needs and budgeting.
  • Maintain communication with Group IT Manager and local Business Manager.
  • Supervise job performance of IT employees and consultants.
