JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The College/Unit of IST is seeking applicants for part-time job of Graduate Assistant. Job duties to include: Guide and execute development of a general data collection system that other researchers can use (incorporating both user-facing and researcher-facing elements). Develop wireframes and mockups of the system Guide software development with a team of engineers Design an evaluation study for the system to test for comprehensiveness and usability Write a research paper reporting on the process and evaluation Publish results (targeting spring 2026). Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies Must be a currently-enrolled graduate student in good standing (master’s or doctoral level). Coursework or experience in relevant fields (data ethics, HCI, app development, mobile software engineering, computational social science, etc) preferred. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills - This position will collaborate closely with research partners from other institutions, other students, and developers, so the ability to work and problem solve with others is critical. Technical skills: Must have experience with developing mobile applications on Android, working with Gradle, Java/XML, and Google Play Console. Preference for experience with Flutter and Flutter plugins. Must have experience with backend frameworks such as: Phoenix/Elixir (preferred), Ruby on Rails, Django, etc. Must have strong technical communication skills for documenting and communicating with other project contributors and stakeholders.
