The College/Unit of IST is seeking applicants for part-time job of Graduate Assistant. Job duties to include: Guide and execute development of a general data collection system that other researchers can use (incorporating both user-facing and researcher-facing elements). Develop wireframes and mockups of the system. Guide software development with a team of engineers. Design an evaluation study for the system to test for comprehensiveness and usability. Write a research paper reporting on the process and evaluation. Publish results (targeting spring 2026).

  • Must be a currently-enrolled graduate student in good standing (master's or doctoral level).
  • Coursework or experience in relevant fields (data ethics, HCI, app development, mobile software engineering, computational social science, etc) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Experience with developing mobile applications on Android, working with Gradle, Java/XML, and Google Play Console.
  • Experience with Flutter and Flutter plugins.
  • Experience with backend frameworks such as: Phoenix/Elixir (preferred), Ruby on Rails, Django, etc.
  • Strong technical communication skills for documenting and communicating with other project contributors and stakeholders.
