About The Position

The Computer & Information Security Specialist 2/3 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory involves working within the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) - Cyber Security group. The role focuses on security compliance and accreditation related to enterprise networks and IT systems, with responsibilities including managing security plans, implementing TEMPEST countermeasures, and collaborating with various security programs. The position can be filled at two levels, with the higher level requiring more advanced expertise and mentorship responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience for level 2.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience for level 3.
  • Technical knowledge of and experience with technical vulnerability assessment fundamentals and principles.
  • Ability to complete TEMPEST coursework to be certified as an NNSA TEMPEST Site Coordinator.
  • Interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and professional interaction across LANL and with liaison partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Technical Security, TSCM, COMSEC, PDS, or Cybersecurity.
  • Experience developing briefings and presentations for senior management.
  • Active TS/SCI or current DoE Q-clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational activities of the TEMPEST program.
  • Assess, interpret, and implement national policy related to the NNSA Technical Security Program.
  • Implement TEMPEST countermeasures and evaluate TEMPEST plans.
  • Conduct annual reviews to assess the effectiveness of existing TEMPEST countermeasures.
  • Participate in the overall TEMPEST program to meet national policy requirements.
  • Maintain control and accountability of all NNSA authorized RF devices at LANL.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) program and Cyber Security entities on data processing vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in TEMPEST requirements for facility evaluation at the higher level.
  • Evaluate the deployment of wireless technology integration for LANL missions at the higher level.
  • Provide mentorship for junior team members at the higher level.
