About The Position

The ISS Instructional Aide assists the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements, working under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role involves supporting instructional activities, managing student behavior, and maintaining a conducive learning environment.

Requirements

• Must be a High School Graduate, possess a High School Diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Be eligible to obtain a paraprofessional certificate issued by the State Board of Educator Certification.
• Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
• Minimum of forty eight (48) semester college hours from an accredited college or university; or Associate degree or higher.
• 1 year experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
