About The Position

The ISS ECLSS Test Engineer will provide technical mechanical engineering expertise to support the Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) for the International Space Station (ISS) and other advanced life support systems. The role involves system engineering, mechanical design, testing, and analysis to ensure the efficiency and reliability of life support systems aboard the ISS.

Requirements

  • A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Typically, educational requirements are equivalent to a Ph.D. with a minimum of 4 years of experience, an MS with at least 8 years of experience, or a BS with at least 10 years of experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of applicable experience directly related to Aerospace testing and/or test data collection and analysis.
  • At least 2 years of knowledge of thermal/fluid components, systems, and associated instrumentation.
  • At least 2 years of experience with the build-up and disassembly of test stands.
  • At least 2 years of experience with the development of test procedures.
  • Experience in interpretation of post-experimental test data.
  • Experience in sourcing instrumentation and test stand components.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with gaseous and liquid fluid flow systems.
  • A working knowledge of LABVIEW.
  • A working knowledge of Aerospace flight system component testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical mechanical engineering expertise for ISS ECLSS and AES Life Support Systems.
  • Conduct mechanical design and modeling of specialized test articles and test support equipment.
  • Perform mechanical structure analysis and testing of development systems.
  • Support systems verification and material procurement tracking.
  • Write procedures and participate in meetings and design reviews.
  • Support test protocols, apparatus, and conduct tests, including interpretation and reporting of results.
  • Troubleshoot and correct anomalous phenomena aboard the ISS.
