About The Position

Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) program for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.

Requirements

• Must have one of the following: 48 hours of college credit, or Associate's Degree or higher, or HS or GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to use personal computer
• One year experience as classroom aide.

Responsibilities

• Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
• Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
• Supervise students assigned to ISS program (in-school suspension) during lunch and bathroom breaks.
• Assist in supervising students during the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and bus duty.
• Assist with office clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
